Where 100KB image limits appear

100KB photo limits are common on job applications, school systems, government forms, visa portals, profile uploads, and older business systems.

The fastest way to hit the limit is often to resize large phone photos first, then compress. Fewer pixels leave more room for visible detail at the same file size.

Format matters

JPG is usually best for photos at 100KB. PNG is better for logos, screenshots, and flat graphics, but large photographic PNGs often need conversion before they fit.

If the source is an iPhone HEIC photo, convert to JPG first when the receiving portal does not accept HEIC.

Why no-upload is safer

A 100KB image is often a headshot, ID, receipt, passport page, badge, or signed form. Local compression keeps that image from being copied to a third-party image server.

Can every image fit under 100KB?
