Why 1MB is a useful target

Many portals reject PDFs over 1MB because they are built for forms, resumes, claims, transcripts, or short records rather than large document packets.

Unlike 50KB or 100KB targets, 1MB often leaves enough room for readable scans and small images while still shrinking the file enough for strict upload systems.

What to do if it is still too large

If the result is still over 1MB, remove blank pages, split the packet, or compress image-heavy pages more aggressively. Scanned documents usually shrink best after removing pages you do not need.

If the file is already text-only and still large, the extra size may come from embedded fonts, duplicate objects, or high-resolution images hidden in the PDF.

Private submission workflow

A 1MB portal file may contain personal details, salary records, insurance forms, transcripts, contracts, or medical paperwork. Local compression avoids creating another copy of that document on a converter server.

Questions

Is 1MB the same as 1000KB?
Many portals are loose about this, but the preset uses 1024KB. If a portal is strict, check the downloaded file size before submitting.
Will the PDF stay searchable?
The safe compression path tries to preserve selectable text. Very aggressive compression or image-only scans can still affect usability, so review the output.
Does AntiUpload receive the PDF?
No. Compression runs in your browser and the PDF content is not uploaded to AntiUpload.
What if the PDF is a scan?
Scans can compress well, but quality depends on page count, resolution, and image detail. Check the result before sending it.
