About Add Watermark

Add Watermark stamps a semi-transparent text watermark diagonally across every page of a PDF. Use it to mark documents as CONFIDENTIAL, DRAFT, FOR REVIEW, or any custom text — a common requirement for legal documents, contracts under negotiation, and internal review copies.

Watermarking happens in your browser — the source PDF is never uploaded. The watermark is rendered into the PDF's page content, making it part of the document (not easily removable by opening in another viewer).

How it works

  1. Upload your PDFDrop the file to watermark.
  2. Enter the watermark textCommon options: "CONFIDENTIAL", "DRAFT", "COPY", or any custom phrase up to ~30 characters.
  3. Click WatermarkThe tool renders the text diagonally across every page, semi-transparent so underlying content remains readable.

When to use Add Watermark

Marking drafts so they are not mistaken for final versions
A "DRAFT" watermark on every page of a contract prevents the wrong version from being signed or circulated as final.
Flagging confidential documents
Legal and financial documents often need a "CONFIDENTIAL" stamp before sharing externally. The watermark is visible on every page.
Identifying copies
Mark photocopied or redistributed documents with "COPY" so the original remains distinguishable.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use a custom watermark text?
Yes — type anything in the text field. Shorter phrases render better than long sentences.
Can I use an image watermark (logo)?
Image watermarks are on the roadmap. For now, only text is supported.
How transparent is the watermark?
Approximately 30% opacity — visible but doesn't obscure the document text beneath.
Can the watermark be removed later?
The watermark is rasterized into the page content, so it can't be simply unchecked. In theory, someone with PDF-editing tools could manually remove it, but for everyday sharing it is effectively permanent.
